The Rhode Island Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) helps businesses take advantage of exciting opportunities in federal, state and local government markets. Rhode Island’s PTAC offers group training and one-on-one counseling sessions on a variety of government procurement topics and provides businesses with a deeper understanding of how government contracts work. Become a prime or subcontractor with confidential assistance by qualified counselors.

PTAC’s services are free to any existing commercial company with an active presence in Rhode Island and e-commerce capability. We assist with:

  • Understanding the language and basics of contracting
  • Developing a marketing strategy to the government
  • Identifying appropriate government buying offices
  • Computerized bid-matching service
  • Assistance with federal and military specifications and standards
  • Certifications and registrations
  • Interpretation of solicitations and government regulations
  • Assistance with developing and writing bids and proposals
  • Understanding military packaging and labeling

Resources and Tools

PTAC offers training sessions at the Rhode Island Economic Development Corporation on a monthly basis. Training session topics include introduction to Rhode Island state purchasing, selling IT to the government, opportunities in government sub-contracting and preparing a proposal.
