Ocean Tech Expo 2008 closed Friday, October 3 in Providence, Rhode Island, following two and half days of exhibitions and key industry leaders addressing hundreds of delegates regarding the present course and future need of subsea technologies.

OTE’s signature “Industry Outlook Sessions” – which seek to bring insights from industry leaders as the current and future need of subsea technology in the science, defense and offshore oil and gas legs of the subsea business – were headlined by a long list of industry experts and leaders. Among the top draws for the week was a session on “Growing Markets and Applications for Underwater Vehicles,” an esteemed panel led by David Kelly of Bluefin Robotics, and including Andy Bowen of Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution and Tyler Schilling of Schilling Robotics.

Marianne Molchan of Molchan Marine Services again pulled together a top-notch panel of experts to address “The Growing Challenges of Keeping International Ports and Harbors Secure”, a panel which included Dr. Akira Asada of the University of Tokyo and Harlan Doliner, U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Marine Safety Sector, Boston.

At the Exhibitor’s Reception held October 1, Thomas S. Chance, President of C&C Technologies Inc., was honored by sponsoring publication Marine Technology Reporter as its “Seamaster of the Year” award. Mr. Chance received a crystal trophy and an Omega Seamaster watch to mark the occasion.
